Kids Bush Camps
One of the philanthropic objectives guiding Fountainhill Estate is to expose members of the public to the environment and conservation. We feel it is important to create awareness, for the environment, in children, at a formative age. With this in mind we offer Kids Bush Camps, small Bush Camps managed and run by independent nature guides, who partner with us, on Fountainhill Estate, located just 30 minutes outside of Pietermaritzburg.
Kids Bush Camps provide children with the opportunity to enjoy quality time in nature, learning new skills as well as engaging in fun outdoor activities.
Kids Bush Camps make use of our Rangers Hut Accommodation. The former is tucked away in the beautiful natural bushveld of our conservation area. This basic, rustic accommodation can sleep 12 people in bunk beds, with simple shower and toilet facilities, with water heated through a ‘donkey’ geyser. Wood for the ‘donkey’ geyser is supplied. There is a fire pit and a braai. There is no electricity at the Rangers Hut, we consider this a space to get away from it all. Low-clearance vehicles are not suitable for accessing the Rangers Hut and we recommend that all vehicles have 4×4. Guests are required to bring own bedding (mattresses are provided) and towels.
Let your children experience personal growth and build friendships. Book your kids into the next Kids Bush Camp. The Kids Bush Camps are arranged through Debbie Bennett at Free Me, and occur a few times throughout the year.
